Department of Social Relations Seminar Explores Development Challenges and Career Pathways in Bangladesh

The Department of Social Relations at East West University (EWU) organized a seminar titled "From Classroom to Reality – Addressing the Emerging Development Challenges in Bangladesh" on May 15, 2025. The event took place at the Jalaluddin Ahmed Lecture Gallery of EWU and aimed to prepare students for career readiness while discussing significant development challenges.

The seminar featured guest speaker Hossain Ishrath Adib, the Director of the Integrated Development Program (IDP), Ultra Poor Graduation (UPG), and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) at BRAC. Mr. Adib delivered an insightful presentation based on his extensive experience in the development sector. Following his address, an engaging interactive session allowed students to actively participate by asking thoughtful questions about career opportunities within NGOs and development organizations.

The seminar was chaired by Dr. Touhida Tasnima, Chairperson and Associate Professor of the Department of Social Relations at EWU, with facilitation by Dr. Marzia Zaman Sultana, a Senior Lecturer in the department. A large number of students and faculty members attended the seminar, where discussions provided valuable perspectives on the realities of the development sector and the skills graduates need to make meaningful contributions.
