Students of DSR Secure 2nd Runner-Up in the National Policy Competition 2025
The Final Round of the National Policy Competition 2025, East West University chapter, organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Bangladesh, was held on 30 September 2025 at the Manzur Elahi Auditorium, at the university. The theme of the EWU chapter was "Bangladesh's Graduation from LDC Status: Preparing to Harness Opportunities and Overcome Emerging Challenges." The competition was held in multiple stages, with 12 groups submitting the initial concept notes. After several rounds of offline and online presentations, only five groups qualified for the final round, where the finalists presented their policy papers before a panel of distinguished judges and members of the ministry.
Sabiha Binta Siraj, Israt Jahan Labonno, and Sajidul Haque, members of Team Cohesion, represented the Department of Social Relations in the Final Round and earned the 2nd Runner-Up award. Their policy paper, titled "Workplace Childcare and Women Empowerment: Bangladesh's LDC Graduation," received comments for its originality, relevance, and insightful policy recommendations in the context of Bangladesh's graduation from LDC status. This outstanding achievement highlights the Department of Social Relations' commitment to fostering critical thinking, research excellence, and active policy engagement among its students.
The event was graced by Dr Anisuzzaman Chowdhury, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser, Ministry of Finance, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, as the Chief Guest, and Mr Md. Mahbub-UL-Alam, Secretary, Ministry of Youth & Sports, as the Special Guest. The panel also included Professor Dr. K. A. M. Enamul Haque, Director General, Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS). The session was chaired by Professor Shams Rahman, Vice-Chancellor, East West University.
