In-House Seminar on “Measles Outbreak: Awareness Drive”

On 25 June 2026, the Department of Social Relations organized an In-House Seminar titled “Measles Outbreak: Awareness Drive” at the Lecture Gallery (Room-354) from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM. The session was chaired by Dr. Touhida Tasnima (Associate Professor & Chairperson, Department of Social Relations), with Dr. Mobarak Hossain Khan (Professor, Department of Social Relations) present as the special guest. Dr. Marzia Zaman Sultana (Senior Lecturer, Department of Social Relations) served as the internal speaker, while Dr. Ismat Jahan (Associate Professor, Department of Neonatology, Bangladesh Medical University) joined as the guest speaker. The seminar aimed to increase students' knowledge and raise awareness about the ongoing measles outbreak, emphasizing the importance of prevention and public health awareness. Dr. Marzia Zaman Sultana introduced the concept of the chain of infections, explaining how infectious diseases spread from one person to another and highlighting the key stages where transmission can be prevented. She emphasized the importance of maintaining proper hygiene, following preventive measures, and understanding the role of individuals in breaking the chain of infections. Dr. Ismat Jahan delivered an informative session on measles, covering its causes, symptoms, modes of transmission, complications, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. She stressed the importance of vaccination as the most effective way to prevent measles and discussed the reasons behind recent outbreaks. The seminar concluded with an interactive discussion, providing students with a better understanding of the disease and encouraging them to spread awareness within their communities.
