The Department of Social Relations, East West University, successfully organized a seminar titled “Heat, Health, and Climate Resilience in Bangladesh”, offering undergraduate students of Population and Public Health Sciences (PPHS) valuable insights into the growing impacts of extreme heat on health, livelihoods, and the economy.

The seminar featured Wameq Azfar Raza, PhD, Senior Health Economist at The World Bank in Bangladesh, as the Guest Speaker. He highlighted key findings from the World Bank Group report, “An Unsustainable Life: The Impact of Heat on Health and the Economy of Bangladesh,” and discussed evidence-based policy recommendations for building a more heat-resilient Bangladesh.

The seminar also served as an engaging platform for students to connect their classroom learning with real-world evidence and contemporary policy challenges. Through expert insights and interactive discussion, the session enriched students’ understanding of the importance of evidence-based approaches to address the health and socioeconomic consequences of extreme heat in Bangladesh.
