In-House Seminar on “Data Management: A Key Area in Public Health”

An in-house seminar titled “Data Management: A Key Area in Public Health” was held on 18 January 2026 from 10:10 AM to 11:40 AM at Room 359. The Department of Social Relations organized the seminar with the objective of strengthening students’ understanding of data management in public health practice, particularly for senior and final-year students.

The Speaker, Mr. Mohammed Sharifuzzaman, MSc, MPH, Technical Officer (EPI Data Management) at the World Health Organization (WHO), Eastern Mediterranean Region, Cairo, Egypt was invited by Professor Dr. Md. Mobarak Hossain Khan. In his presentation, the speaker emphasized the critical importance of data management in public health, especially in areas such as disease surveillance, immunization programs, and evidence-based decision-making. He discussed how data quality, accuracy, and timely reporting play a vital role in ensuring effective health interventions and informed policy development.

The seminar was particularly beneficial for final-year students, as it provided valuable insights into the practical application of data management concepts in real-world public health settings. The speaker also highlighted potential career opportunities in data management within both national and international health organizations, which was informative and motivating for students preparing to enter the professional field. The session was interactive and the students actively participated.
