World Health Day 2023
Department of Social Relations (DSR) of East West University celebrated ‘World Health Day 2023’ by organizing a poster presentation on this year’s theme of the day ‘Health for All’. Every year 7th April is celebrated as ‘World Health Day’. It is celebrated annually and each year draws attention to a specific health topic of concern to people all over the world. The date of 7 April marks the anniversary of the founding of the World Health Organization in 1948. This year WHO observed its 75th anniversary. In 1948, countries of the world came together and founded WHO to promote health, keep the world safe and serve the vulnerable – so everyone, everywhere can attain the highest level of health and well-being. WHO’s 75th anniversary year is an opportunity to look back at public health successes that have improved quality of life during the last seven decades. It is also an opportunity to motivate action to tackle the health challenges of today and tomorrow. In these relation on 12th April 2023 the students of Population and Public Health Sciences (PPHS) of the department prepared few posters as part of their course activities of PPHS105 course titled ‘Introduction to Epidemiology’. Lead by their course instructor Dr. Marzia Zaman Sultana, Senior Lecturer, DSR, the students displayed posters on the following topics: Health for All by Family Planning, Health for All by Promoting Sports and Physical Activity, Health for All by Women Empowerment, Health for All by Economic Development, Health for All by Preventing Climate Change, Health for All by Newborn and Child Care. Department Chairperson Professor Dr. Md. Mobarak Hossain Khan visited the posters and encouraged the students for their good works.
