The Department of Social Relations (DSR) at East West University had the honor to host Kabita Bose, Country Director of Plan International Bangladesh, along with Sabrina Arifin Khan, Director - People and Culture of the same organization, for an engaging and insightful session held on Sunday, 18 May 2025 at the Department. Dr. Touhida Tasnima, Associate Professor and Chairperson of DSR, warmly welcomed the distinguished guests and the department’s faculty members. She emphasized the importance of aligning academic programs with practical opportunities to enhance students' employability. Dr. Tasnima highlighted how our undergraduate program in Population and Public Health Sciences and the postgraduate program in Population, Reproductive Health, Gender and Development are designed to equip students with the skills needed to contribute meaningfully to the development sector.

During the session, senior officials from Plan International Bangladesh shared valuable insights into the organization’s ongoing projects and initiatives. Particular focus was placed on areas where students from the department could contribute effectively, especially in initiatives related to sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR), youth empowerment and employment and entrepreneurship programs. An interactive discussion followed between faculty members and the visiting team, exploring avenues for collaboration in research, internships, and joint initiatives.

The visit concluded on a promising note, reaffirming mutual interest in fostering academic-industry partnerships to nurturing the next generation of professionals dedicated to advancing social development.
