EWU Students Experience Hands-On Learning at Dockyard and Cultural Sites in Narayanganj
On April 18, 2026, a successful field visit to the ‘Bangladesh Navy Dockyard and Engineering Works Limited, Bandar, Narayanganj’ was conducted as a part of the “GEN 7203/PPHS 7201” course (Ecological System and Environment), instructed by Dr. Asib Ahmed, Adjunct Faculty, Department of Social Relations, East West University. The first session of the field study began with a presentation detailing the dockyard's operations and its commendable initiative to educate children at its own school. An engineer then guided the group of students through the 11 shops of the dockyard, providing in-depth knowledge of the shipbuilding process. In recognition of their valuable contributions, Dr. Asib Ahmed presented souvenirs to the senior engineer and the supervisor as a token of appreciation.
Subsequently, the group then visited the ‘Sonargaon Museum’ in Narayanganj, where the picturesque Sardar Bari offered a refreshing respite. The final stop of the study tour was ‘Panam City’, where the group explored the heritage site and gained insights into the historical significance of the old buildings, further enriching their understanding of the region’s cultural heritage. This field study proved to be an invaluable addition to their educational experience.
