The Seminar on The Recent Amendment of The Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898 successfully wrapped up at East West University

The Department of Law at East West University recently organized a well-attended seminar titled “The Recent Amendment of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898.” The distinguished panel of speakers included Dr. Muhammad Mahbubur Rahman, Professor (on leave) at the Department of Law, University of Dhaka, and Professor and Head of the Department of Law at Independent University, Bangladesh; Mr. Muhammad Omar Faruque, Senior Assistant Secretary, Law & Justice Division, Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh; and Mr. Md. Zahirul Islam, Advocate, Supreme Court of Bangladesh. The session offered a comprehensive understanding, analysis of the landscape of criminal justice, criminal court proceedings and practical insights into the recent amendments to the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898, which drew enthusiastic participation from both students and faculty members across the department.

The panel of guests shared their extensive knowledge, experience, and insights on the Amendment of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898. They explained the differences between the previous and the amended versions, highlighted the procedures of both regular and mobile courts, and discussed issues such as police station syndicates and the irregularities that arose under the previous criminal procedure. The seminar effectively focused on real-life court proceedings, examples, theoretical understanding and practical knowledge.

An interactive Q&A session encouraged active student participation, followed by a certificate presentation ceremony and a group photograph to commemorate the occasion.
