EWU Law Department Hosts 11th Workshop on Mooting and Advocacy Skills

The Department of Law at East West University hosted its 11th Workshop on Mooting and Advocacy Skills on Friday, February 6, 2026. The day-long program was attended by 75 enthusiastic first-year law students.

The workshop featured five engaging lecture sessions conducted by esteemed faculty members of the department. The program commenced with a session titled “Introduction to Mooting,” jointly conducted by Ms. Shamshad Bashar, Senior Lecturer, and Khandker Saad At Tanbir, Lecturer, Department of Law. This was followed by Farzana Rifat Siddique, Senior Lecturer in Law, who conducted an interactive session on “Fact Marshalling.” Subsequently, Shaikh Mirazur Rahman, Lecturer in Law, provided valuable guidance on “Legal Research and Memorial Writing.”

Later in the day, Oishe Rahman, Lecturer, and Ali Mashraf, Senior Lecturer, conducted an engaging session on “Oral Advocacy and the Art of Presentation.” The concluding lecture was delivered by Nur-A Ariya Alam, Lecturer in Law, who shared effective strategies for becoming a successful moot champion and Md. Salmun Alam, a Final Year LL.B. student showcased his recent achievement of Championship in a national Moot Court Competition which further enhanced participants inspiration for mooting.

Following the lecture sessions, participants observed a Demonstration of Moot Court Competition performed by experienced mooters, offering practical insights into courtroom advocacy. The workshop concluded with a Certificate Giving and Closing Ceremony, graced by Dr. Nabaat Tasnima Mahbub, Chairperson and Associate Professor, Department of Law.

The Department of Law extends its sincere gratitude to Farzana Rifat Siddique, Senior Lecturer in Law, under whose effective coordination and meticulous supervision the workshop was successfully organized. Appreciation is also extended to Mohammed Shahjalal, Senior Lecturer in Law, for his presence at the event, as well as to the dedicated team of student volunteers for their tireless efforts.

The workshop reaffirmed the Department’s continued commitment to fostering legal excellence and strengthening practical courtroom skills among its students.
