Department Of Law Successfully Organized The 5th Intra Dept Moot Court Competition 2026
The Department of Law, East West University successfully organized the 5th Intra Dept Moot Court Competition on 10–11 April 2026. A total of thirty-nine teams from the Department of Law registered for the competition, among which twenty-seven teams actively participated in the two-day event. The competition was structured into four competitive rounds: Preliminary, Quarter-Final, Semi-Final, and Final.
The initial rounds were held on 10 April, and these rounds were adjudicated by seventeen former mooters and early-career legal professionals from reputed institutions. The semi-final and final rounds were held the next day, on 11 April followed by the prize-giving and closing ceremony. After the preliminary rounds, eight teams qualified for the quarter-final stage, from which four teams advanced to the semi-finals. Ultimately, two teams, Team T35 and Team T11 qualified for the final round. The final round of the Intra-Department Moot Court Competition was adjudicated by a distinguished bench comprising Dr. Md. Mahbubur Rahman, Professor, Department of Law, University of Dhaka; Barrister Rashna Imam, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of Bangladesh; and Md. Monzur Rabbi, Advocate, Supreme Court of Bangladesh.
After two days of intense mooting and a highly competitive final round, Team “T35”—comprising Syeda Nabila Haque, Kazi Ayman Awsaf and Talha Jubayer—emerged as the Champions of the 5th Intra Dept Moot Court Competition, 2026 of East West University. Team “T11,” consisting of Mashiat Rahman, Trisha Sarker, and Ummey Nuzaima Tabassum, secured the position of Runners-up. The Best Memorial Award was received by the champion team, while Kazi Ayman Awsaf from the Champion team was awarded the Best Advocate Award in recognition of his outstanding performance. The Spirit of the Moot Award was awarded to Team “T16,” comprising Mownata Mubassira Hridy, Tasnim Jahan, and Jarif Hasan Ohi, for their commendable enthusiasm and sportsmanship throughout the competition.
The Prize Giving and Closing Ceremony was graced by the presence of Professor Dr. Mohammad Ashik Mosaddik, Pro-Vice Chancellor of East West University, as the Program Chair, and Air Cdre (Retd) Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury, Treasurer of East West University, as the Special Guest. During the ceremony, Dr. Md. Mahbubur Rahman served as the Chief Guest, while Barrister Rashna Imam and Md. Monzur Rabbi attended as Guests of Honour. The ceremony commenced with the welcome speech delivered by Ms. Shamsad Bashar, Senior Lecturer, Department of Law and Contact Person of the Ad-Hoc Moot Committee and was concluded by the vote of thanks presented by Mr. Khandker Saad At Tanbir, Lecturer, Department of Law.
The competition was efficiently organized under the supervision of the Ad-Hoc Moot Court Committee of the Department of Law, under the leadership of Mr. Khandker Saad At Tanbir, Lecturer, Department of Law, with the dedicated efforts of the faculty members of the Department of Law. Ms. Shamsad Bashar, Senior Lecturer, serving as the Contact Person, played a pivotal role in coordinating and facilitating communications throughout the competition. The committee was further guided by the valuable advice of Mr. Riad Mahmud and Ms. Nadia Rahaman, Senior Lecturers of the Department of Law.
The semi-final rounds were adjudicated with diligence by Senior Lecturers of the Department of Law—Mr. Riad Mahmud, Ms. Nabila Farhin, Ms. Nadia Rahaman, Mr. Sayeed Hossain Sarwar, Mr. Ali Mashraf, and Ms. Farzana Rifat Siddique—ensuring a fair and rigorous evaluation of the competing teams. The memorials were carefully assessed by Ms. Oishe Rahman and Mr. Shah Maruf Uddin Ahmed, Lecturers of the Department of Law. Moreover, Ms. Oishe Rahman played a crucial role in tabulation, meticulously maintaining and verifying the scores throughout the competition, thereby ensuring accuracy and overall transparency in the evaluation process.
Additionally, Ms. Nur-A Ariya Alam, Ms. Mashraba Naziat, and Mr. Shaikh Mirazur Rahman, Lecturers of the Department of Law, played exemplary roles in ensuring the smooth organization and overall success of the competition. The committee members express their immense gratitude to Dr. Nabaat Tasnima Mahbub, Associate Professor, Chairperson of the Department of Law, for her unwavering support, continuous guidance, and encouragement, which were instrumental in the successful execution of the event.
The Department expresses sincere gratitude to East West University for its financial and logistical support. The competition was efficiently managed with the assistance of twenty-four dedicated volunteers, whose efforts ensured the smooth execution of the event. The judges and guests commended the high standard of mooting and highlighted such competitions as vital platforms for practical legal training, inspiring and encouraging future mooters to develop their advocacy skills.
