East West University to Represent Bangladesh at the United Nations in the 18th Nelson Mandela World Human Rights Moot Court Competition 2026

East West University is proud to announce that it will represent Bangladesh at the 18th Nelson Mandela World Human Rights Moot Court Competition, to be held from 13 to 17 July 2026 at the United Nations Headquarter in Geneva, Switzerland. The Nelson Mandela World Human Rights Moot Court Competition is one of the world’s premier international moot court competitions, bringing together outstanding law students from across the globe to debate contemporary human rights issues before distinguished jurists and legal scholars. Representing Bangladesh at this prestigious moot court competition is a matter of immense pride for the University and a significant milestone for its Department of Law.

The participating team from the Department of Law comprises Ms. Shagufta Chowdhury Adrita and Mr. Md. Salmun Alam, who will participate as oralists, under the guidance of Ms. Nur-A Ariya Alam, Lecturer, Department of Law, East West University, who will accompany the team as its Coach. Their participation in this globally renowned competition reflects not only their academic merit and advocacy skills but also the collective support and guidance of the University’s leadership, faculty members, administrators, alumni, and well-wishers.

The team expresses its profound gratitude to Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees and Founder Vice Chancellor of East West University, whose visionary leadership and enduring commitment to academic excellence continue to inspire generations of students and strengthen the University’s pursuit of global distinction. The team extends its deepest appreciation to Professor Shams Rahman, Vice Chancellor of East West University, for his encouragement and inspiring leadership, which has been instrumental in enabling the participation in this prestigious international competition. The team conveys its sincere appreciation to Professor Dr. Mohammad Ashik Mosaddik, Pro-Vice Chancellor; Air Cdre (Retd) Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury, Treasurer; and Mr. Md. Touhidul Islam, Director of Finance, East West University, for their generous cooperation in facilitating the participation in this prestigious international event.

The team further acknowledges the mentorship of Dr. Nabaat Tasnima Mahbub, Chairperson and Associate Professor, Department of Law, and Dr. Md. Mehedi Hasan, Associate Professor, Department of Law. Their relentless guidance has been instrumental in preparing the team for this prestigious international competition. The team expresses its heartfelt appreciation to the respected faculty members of the Department of Law whose guidance, encouragement and academic contributions have played a vital role in this remarkable journey. The team extends its deepest gratitude to Mr. Md. Pizuar Hossain, Senior Lecturer (on leave), Ms. Mashraba Naziat, Lecturer and Ms. Oishe Rahman, Lecturer, Department of Law, for their invaluable guidance, and dedicated support. The team also wishes to acknowledge Mr. Taj Al Rahit, Senior Departmental Officer, and Mr. Md. Mobarak Hossain, Messenger, Department of Law, for their tireless assistance throughout the team’s preparation.
