EWU Department of Law organized specialized Workshop on ‘Deception Detection through Body Language Analysis in Courtroom’

The Department of Law at East West University successfully organized a specialized workshop titled “Deception Detection Through Body Language Analysis in Courtroom” on Sunday, May 26, 2025. The session was attended by 120 enthusiastic law students. The session commenced with an introductory speech delivered by Ms. Nur-A Ariya Alam, Lecturer, Department of Law.

The workshop was conducted by Md. Meraz Hossain, a distinguished scholar and Ph.D. Fellow in Forensic Psychology at the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), India, and Managing Director of the Bangladesh Institute of Forensic Psychology & Sciences (BIFPS Consultancy Ltd.).

With his extensive background in forensic investigation and behavioral profiling, Dr. Hossain delivered an engaging session featuring interactive discussions, case studies, and real-life applications. Participants explored the fundamentals of body language analysis and its critical role in detecting deceptive behavior within courtroom proceedings—an essential skill for aspiring legal professionals. The workshop emphasized practical implementation, equipping students with valuable tools to enhance their observational, analytical, and advocacy skills in legal contexts.

The event was concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony graced by the distinguished speaker Md. Meraz Hossain. At the conclusion, the vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Riad Mahmud, Senior Lecturer, Department of Law. He expressed his sincere gratitude to Prof. Dr. Ekramul Haque, Adviser and Professor; Dr. Naabat Tasnima Mahbub, Chairperson and Associate Professor; and Dr. Mehedi Hasan, Associate Professor of the Department of Law.

Participants expressed their gratitude to the faculty members — Mr. Mohammad Shahjalal, Mr. Riad Mahmud, Ms. Nadia Rahman, Ms. Farzana Rifat Siddique, Shah Maruf Uddin Ahmad, Mr. Khandker Saad At Tanbir, Ms. Nur-A Ariya Alam, and Ms. Mashraba Naziat for their tireless efforts in making this workshop a meaningful and enriching experience for the students.
