East West University Team has Embarked on a Campaign on Activism against Gender-Based Violence!
The USAID Ain Shohayota Activity, in cooperation with North South University (NSU), has arranged a day-long session on “Gender-Based Violence” on February 9, 2024, at NSU. This session is part of a nearly month-long Campaign on Activism Against GBV until March 7, 2024, in which nine teams of students from Bangladesh’s private and public institutions participated. The program began with informative opening remarks by Ms. Heather Goldsmith, Chief of Party, USAID Ain Shohayota Activity, who established the tone for an engaging and meaningful activism against GBV.
The East West University (EWU) team participated in the event and attended the day-long training. The team consists of five law student participants: Sabbir Ahmmad, Rafia Binte Faruk, Md. Asif Rahman, Saima Haque, and Israt Jahan Sadia, as well as a teacher adviser, Md. Pizuar Hossain, Senior Lecturer, Department of Law, EWU.
The program provided participants with useful insights and elucidated the concept of GBV. It also encouraged people to make changes at the individual level, spread them throughout the community, and eventually raise awareness about GBV across the country.
