“6th Workshop on Mooting and Advocacy,” hosted by East West University’s Department of Law

The East West University (EWU) Moot Committee, which comprised Farzana Rifat Siddique, a Lecturer in Law, Nadia Rahaman, a Senior Lecturer in Law, and Md. Pizuar Hossain, a Senior Lecturer in Law successfully organized the 6th workshop on “Mooting and Advocacy” at EWU on August 26, 2023, Saturday. The event was attended by 75 third- and fourth-year law students of EWU.

There were three sessions in the workshop. The first session was conducted by Mr. Nuran Choudhury, Legal Advisor, US Embassy, Dhaka, on ‘Fact-marshaling and Argumentation,’ while the next one was conducted by Mr. Mohammad Omar Faruque, Assistant Judge, Bangladesh Judicial Services, currently serving as an Assistant Secretary at the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, on ‘Memorial Writing.’ The last session on ‘Oral Advocacy’ was conducted by Md. Monzur Rabbi, Advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, Barrister of Lincoln’s Inn at the Bar of England and Wales, and Senior Partner and Head of Chambers of Rahman and Rabbi Legal.

The Certificate-Giving and Closing Ceremony of the workshop took place on September 5, 2023, Tuesday. Mr. Keshob Roy Chowdhury, an Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge from Dhaka, graced the event as the Chief Guest. Barrister Sazzad Haider was the Special Guest of the ceremony.

The EWU Moot Committee expresses its gratitude to Dr. Md. Mehedi Hasan, Chairperson and Assistant Professor of the Department of Law at EWU, and Dr. Muhammad Ekramul Haque, Professor and Adviser of the Department of Law at EWU, for their invaluable support in organizing the workshop.
