Department of Information Studies and Library Management, East West University always tries to engage with community services that brings positive changes to society. As a part of that objective, the department accepted the request of Dhaka Imperial College and hosted a "Youth Information Literacy Workshop" at their campus on 28th April 2022 where intermediate level students were participated.

 As resource person of the workshop there was venerated Dr. Dilara Begum, Associate Professor and Chairperson, Department of Information Studies and Library Management, East West University. She mentioned Information Literacy as essential to expose students to critical thinking and provide them with the tools to understand news and information and make informed decisions and opinions around them.  Among the other faculty members of the department, Abdur Rahman Sumon, Lecturer and Rumana Rahman, Lecturer were also present.

At the beginning of the workshop, the principal of the Imperial College showed his gratitude to the EWU team for accepting the invitation and for arranging such a timely workshop. 

The workshop had begun with a pre-assessment test. Then the resource person started the main session of the program. The outlines of the workshop included an overview of Information Literacy, digital divide, fake news, techniques to critically analyze news reports, social media posts etc.

After the session, a post-assessment test was carried out where the instructors noticed that participants became more confident about the Information Literacy concept, and they enjoyed the interactive sessions of the workshop.
