Guest Lecture on "Records and Archives Management"

The Department of Information Studies hosted an appreciative guest lecture on 21st May 2024. Md. Jalal Uddin, the deputy director of the Department of Archives and Library, presided over the session. The lecture was part of the Records and Archives Management course. He talked about the collection, selection, and Preservation method of National Archives of Bangladesh. He taught about the ISBN maintaining method as well which was quite interesting for the students.

Dr. Dilara Begum, the chairperson and associate professor of the Department of Information Studies, was a delightful addition to the class. Other faculty members Md. Hasinul Elahi and Abdur Rahaman Sumon were also present. Rumana Rahman Shithi, the course's official instructor, conducted the entire session.


The interaction between the students and the guest was very lively, with a good number of questions and discussions that highlighted the practical aspects of managing records and archives.

Md Jalal Uddin shared his own experience and insights into the field by covering some important topics such as the importance of proper selection and managing the archives, challenges faced for managing of records, and the important role of digital archives. His practical examples and professional anecdotes enriched the learning experience that provided students with a proper understanding of those topics.

The guest lecture was a significant success, contributing to the academic and professional development of the students enrolled in the Records and Archives Management course.
