Student of English Department Won the First Prize in a Competition

Afia Mursheeda, a student of the Department of English of East West University (EWU) has won the first prize in Research Paper Presentation on Jane Austen’s literary works at the 3rd Inter-university Students’ Conference and Cultural Competition: 200 Hundred Years of Jane Austen, organized by the Department of English and Humanities, University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB). The program organized from 21 to 22 April 2017.  Jane Austen was a famous English novelist.

The title of Afia Mursheeda’s paper was “From Jane to Janeites: Exploring Readership through the Meta-Fan Fiction on Screen”.  Ahmed Jibal Manar, another student of English department has also presented a paper titled “Adulteration or Afterlife: Adapting Unfinished Jane Austen”. The students of English department have also performed a musical-drama, titled “In Love with Jane Austen”, based on Jane Austen’s life and her novels. The performers are: Mohammad Mahbub – Ul – Azam Khan, Tasvir Muntasir, Rahnuma Shabiba, Ahmad Mustafa Zehadi, Umme Bakhtiar Sanowar, Fatema-E-Ummal Khair, Afsana Bintey Helal, Ramisa Rahman, Fazle Rabbi Shovo, and Rajiul Huda Dipto. The other top universities of Bangladesh were participating in the program.
