East West University Information Club (EWUIC) arranged a seminar on “Information Literacy for 21^st Century” at East West University Annex Building on 14 September, 2017 at 3.00 pm.

Dr. A. S. Chandel, Visiting Fellow at North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong, India and as well as   a prominent figure in Information Studies and Library Management honored the seminar attending as ‘Guest Speaker’. He discussed different aspects of information literacy and the role of information professionals to educate people on information literacy in 21^st century. He also shared his diversified experiences with the audiences. Dr. Dilara Begum, Chairperson, Dept. of Information Studies and Library Management presided over the session. She is one of the scholar on the subject matter of the seminar in Bangladesh as she did her Ph.D. in the same area (i.e. Information Literacy) and as well as representing Bangladesh in IFLA as Secretary at Information Literacy section. She discussed different issues regarding how students can achieve information literacy in this information age. Among others honorable faculty of Rajshahi University Md. Nazmul Hossain, information professionals of EWU and Moderators of EWUIC were also present at the session.

At the outset of the program, the honorable guests were welcomed by the Chairperson of the ISLM dept. by flower. The program became very much interactive when students posed their queries to the guest speaker at the ‘Question and Answer Session’. The seminar was ended after the vote of thanks from the session chair Dr. Dilara Begum. Then she handed over a souvenir and honorary crest to the guest speaker. Around 50 participants were actively participated at the seminar.
