PRESS BRIEFING ON “EWU MOOT COURT TEAM’S ACHIEVEMENT”
The Network for International Law Students – Bangladesh (NILS – Bangladesh) with the event support of the Center for the Study of Genocide and Justice (CSGJ), Liberation War Museum (LWM), Agargaon, Dhaka, Bangladesh has organized the 1st International Law Fest’19 from 4th to 6th April 2019. Total 239 students of 35 public and private universities of Bangladesh participated in the entire program.
This program unified three distinct segments including the 1st National IHL Moot Court Competition’19. Total 16 teams of 14 public and private universities have participated in the competition. The East West University Moot Court Team became the Runner-Up Team in this competition. The team was constituted of three law students namely, Nusrat Jahan Nishat (Mooter), Shiddhartho Zaman (Mooter), and Avijhit Shikder (Researcher). Nusrat Jahan Nishat obtained 2nd position among 48 mooters of the competition. The team is especially grateful to Mr. Md. Pizuar Hossain, Lecturer, Department of Law, East West University for providing them mooting-related guidelines and assisting them during their preparation.
Honourable Justice Obaidul Hassan, Justice, Supreme Court of Bangladesh was present as “Chief Guest” of the award giving ceremony of the program. Masoma Zaman, Senior Assistant Secretary, Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division, Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Bangladesh and Kazi Shamsul Hassan Shuvo, Advocate, Bangladesh Supreme Court, and Assistant Secretary, Bangladesh Supreme Court Bar Association were present as “Special Guests”. The award giving ceremony was presided by Mr. Mofidul Hoque, Trustee, LWM and Director, CSGJ, LWM.
