National Library Day being observed by the Department of Information Studies and Library Management
“Read Books, Build Nation”, under this theme the first National Library Day has been observed on 5th February 2018 through various programmes in the city. Directorate of Archives and Libraries and Department of Public Libraries, in association with Ministry of Cultural Affairs, have organized for a day long programme that was initiated through a rally formed by gathering of the LIS professionals from different corners of the country.
In response to the special invitation received from the Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Dr. Dilara Begum Chairperson & Associate Professor, Department of Information Studies and Library Management, & Librarian (In-charge) East West University have joined the rally along with the students and faculty members by representing the Department of Information Studies and Library Management, East West University under their own banner.
The rally was commenced from the premises of Public Library Shahbagh and concluded at the Shahid Minar yard of Dhaka University. The rally was successfully conducted by the participation of around 26 representative groups from various Universities, governmental and non-governmental libraries, and Institutions.
Academic offerings include 95 majors, 86 minors, and more than 100 in-major specializations and more than 100 in-major specializations
