The eighth annual Global Media and Information Literacy Week, 2019 started on Thursday 24th October under the theme “Media and Information Literate Citizens: Informed, Engaged, Empowered”. Information Studies and Library Management Department of East West University is first in Bangladesh who celebrates Global MIL Week. For the third time, this year the department is observing Global MIL Week through a week-long program. The celebration of Global MIL Week 2019 in East West University started with a colorful opening ceremony where venerated Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chief Advisor and Founder Vice Chancellor, East West University and Former Governor, Bangladesh Bank, inaugurated through cake cutting at campus premises. After the inauguration of the week long program a Seminar was held at S.M. Nousher Ali Lecture Gallery in East West University where honorable Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin was attended as chief guest. Ms. Beatrice Kaldun, UNESCO Country Representative in Bangladesh was invited as Keynote speaker. A.Z.M. Shafiqul Alam, Treasurer, East West University was attended as special guest and Dr. Dilara Begum, Chairperson, Department of Information Studies and Library Management chaired the seminar. Honorable Chairperson, Faculty members, Students, Admin staffs from different departments of East West University were present as well. Rest of the days of Global MIL Week-2019 are also be designed with many of activities by the Department of Information Studies and Library Management, East West University.
