IFLA President Ms. Barbara Lison delivered keynote Speech on Advocacy and Networking at the Department of Information Studies

Department of Information Studies, East West University, Dhaka, Bangladesh organized an international seminar on "Advocacy and Networking: A must know-how for the Information Professionals” on Tuesday, 18 April 2023, 2.00 PM at S. M. Nousher Ali Lecture Gallery (Room no. 126), East West University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. The honorable president of International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) Ms. Barbara Lison was present at the session as the Keynote Speaker. Respected Dr. Muhammad Ziaulhaq Mamun, Pro-Vice Chancellor, East West University was the Chief Guest and Venerated Mir Jahurul Islam, Director General (Addl. Secretary), BANSDOC was the special guest of the program. Dr. Dilara Begum, Honorable Chairperson and Associate Professor, Department of Information Studies chaired the seminar. Delegates of Library Association of Bangladesh (LAB) and Bangladesh Association of Librarians, Information Scientists and Documentalists (BALID), Information Professionals from different institutions of Bangladesh as well as Faculty members and students from different departments were present at the seminar. Students from the Department of Information Studies greeted guests with flowers at the beginning of the seminar. Then the chief guest delivered the welcome speech. Honorable Keynote speaker delivered the keynote speech on Advocacy and Networking. In her speech, Barbara gave thanks to the East West University authority especially conveyed her gratitude to the honorable Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chief Adviser and Founder Vice Chancellor, East West University for organizing the wonderful seminar. The keynote speech was followed by an interactive and lively Q&A session. After that the Special Guest gave a brief but informative speech to the audience. The honorable program chair concluded the session by offering a vote of thanks to the guests and participants.

The Department of Information Studies Honored the guests with crests and Uttorio. After the end of the seminar, a meeting with the LAB and BALID delegates was held followed by a visit to the Department of information Studies and East West University Library.
