Department of Information Studies and Library Management, East West University organized two days long Field Trip from 21 February to 23 February 2019 in Sonadia Island. The main purpose of the Field Trip was to conduct a research on “The Information Practices of the Fishermen in the Sonadia Island”.
More than 40 students of the department were assigned to collect data and conduct survey on the Fishermen community of Sonadia Island. The students were guided by the Department Chairperson Dr. Dilara Begum and Lecturer Md. Hasinul Elahi to collect research data from 180 fishermen families. The students enthusiastically conducted interviews with the fishermen and filled in the Questionnaires at the Sonadia Island. The students were successful in collecting a large number of data that will be used for the research purpose. During their stay at the Sonadia Island the students also took part in cleaning up the Island of plastics and other waste materials to create an eco-friendly environment in the Island. The field trip was very fruitful for the students for their upcoming research projects and the practical experience of field work had a positive effect on the minds of the students. During the trip, the students also had opportunities of sight-seeing.
