Dr. Dilara Begum has been honored as an Invited Speaker in the International Seminar on “Digital Humanities and Digital Societies in the Contemporary World”, at University of Calcutta, India

Dr. Dilara Begum, Chairperson & Associate Professor, Department of Information Studies and Library Management, & Librarian (In-charge) East West University has been honored as an Invited Speaker in two days International Seminar on the theme, “Digital Humanities and Digital Societies in the Contemporary World” (DHDS 2018). The International Seminar was held from 18 January – 19 January 2018, at Asutosh Hall, University of Calcutta, India. Dr. Begum presented her paper entitled: “Building Sustainable Digital Libraries in Bangladesh: Look in the role of East West University Library”.

On the same event, two other faculty members, Md. Hasinul Elahi and Tamanna Hossain, Lecturers at the Department of Information Studies and Library Management, East West university also presented their paper entitled “Public Engagement in Nation Development through Open Data Platform: Bangladesh Government Initiatives”.

Moreover, 16 students of different semesters from the Department of Information Studies and Library Management, East West University have also attended as participants in the International Seminar at University of Calcutta, India.

Among the students, Jannatul Ferdous and Shahelee Barua Momo, performed in the cultural event at Inaugural Session of the DHDS-2018. The students were academically benefitted by availing such an international exposure in the very early stage of their academic career.
