Professor Dr. Dilara Begum, Chairperson, Department of Information Studies, East West University, was invited as a distinguished speaker at a talk titled “Survival in the Information World: Media and Information Literacy for all”. The seminar was jointly organized by the Career Counseling and Development Centre, and the Department of Information Science and Lib rary Management, University of Rajshahi on 15 August 2026.

Professor Dr. Dilara shared her insights on the significance of Media and Information Literacy in combatting misinformation, disinformation and being media and information literate person. Dr. Dilara also shared the MIL skills and competencies required in the age of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and how these skills can help everyone in verifying information before use. As the President of the Media and Information Literacy Network Bangladesh (MILNetBD), she talked about the initiatives taken by MILNetBD in combatting misinformation, disinformation and fake news.
