Department of Information Studies, East West University arranged a four-day long study tour from 8 to 11 November 2023 in Darjeeling. The main purpose of the study tour was to conduct a survey on “The Information Seeking Behavior of the Rongpa People in Darjeeling”.

Around 20 participants including the students and faculty members participated in the tour. Students of the department were assigned to collect data and conducted a survey on the Rongpa People of Darjeeling. The students were guided by the Department Chairperson Dr. Dilara Begum. They conducted interviews with people at different locations and were successful in collecting sufficient data that will be used for the research purpose.

The field trip was indeed very fruitful for the students for their upcoming research projects and the practical experience of field work has also had a positive effect on the minds of the students. During the tour, the students also had opportunities to witness the scenic beauty of Darjeeling. Students, while sharing their feedback regarding the study tour opined that this sort of practical learning through enjoyment was beneficiary for them to learn different topics effectively.
