Md. Shazed Ul Hoq Khan Abir is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of English at East West University, Bangladesh. His research interests include English language teaching in EFL contexts, language learner motivation in second language acquisition (SLA), the commercialization of the English language, posthumanism, diaspora in South Asian literature, and art history. He has presented his research at numerous national and international seminars and conferences and has actively participated in scholarly discussions. His research articles have been published in both national and international peer-reviewed journals.
A prolific creative writer, Abir has published eleven books with some of Bangladesh's leading publishing houses. His publications include two novels, five collections of short fiction, one volume of poetry, and three translated works.
He is the recipient of the prestigious Kali O Kalam Torun Kathasahityik Award 2025 from the Bengal foundation. His short story Mofiz er Relation e Spark Nai (No Spark in Mafiz's Relationship) was shortlisted for the Commonwealth Short Story Prize 2026, one of the world's most prestigious international competitions for short fiction.
