Anisa Mehedi is a Lecturer in the Department of English at East West University, Bangladesh. She completed her B.A. (Honours) in English and M.A. in English Literature at the University of Dhaka. Her M.A. thesis, Attachment Styles in Virginia Woolf’s Mrs. Dalloway, reflects her interdisciplinary interest in the relationship between literature, psychology, and human experience.
Her teaching focuses particularly on academic writing, language development, literary analysis, and critical thinking. She works with students to strengthen foundational language and writing skills while developing their ability to organize ideas, construct arguments, engage with evidence, and communicate independently. Her classroom practice incorporates guided writing, drafting and revision, analytical discussion, and assessment designed to move students from comprehension and description toward interpretation and evidence-based argumentation.
In literature courses, she encourages students to approach texts through multiple perspectives and to develop and defend their own interpretations. She is particularly interested in connecting close textual analysis with broader questions concerning morality, meaning, identity, human relationships, suffering, and the human condition.
Her broader academic interests include modern and contemporary literature, critical theory, psychology, philosophy, storytelling, communication, identity, and interdisciplinary approaches to literary studies.
Before joining East West University, she worked in Communications at the Office of International Affairs, University of Dhaka, and contributed articles to Shout, the youth platform of The Daily Star. She has also published a short story, "Intrusive Thoughts," in the Ten Squared Anthology (2020).
Her academic interests include modern and contemporary literature, storytelling, communication, identity, and the study of human relationships in literary texts.
