The students of Dept. of ISLM participated at a presentation on “eLibraryUSA and Digital First Libraries” held at the American Center

The students of the Department of Information Studies and Library Management participated at a presentation on “eLibraryUSA and Digital First Libraries” on March 20, 2016 at 02:00 pm at the American Center auditorium on invitation of  The American Center, U.S. Embassy in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Mr. William Middleton, Regional Information Officer of the U.S. Department of State delivered this presentation. He said that Information and Communication Technology has revolutionized the concept of libraries. We are in the age of a networked society where information technology in addition to its use in all spheres of human activity has been used extensively to record, store, and disseminate the information in the digital form. He also added that we are living in the ocean of information and library and information professionals need to know how to pick up the right information from the ocean of information. He introduced 3D printing or additive manufacturing (a process of making three dimensional solid objects from a digital file) to the students and library personnel. He also showed the techniques to use eLibrary of the information resource center, American Center. Students and faculty member of Department of Information Studies and Library Management and library personnel enjoyed this presentation and explored the contemporary technologies of digital libraries from the presentation.
