Department of Social Relations Arranges a Webinar on, “Bangabandhu: Visionary and Charismatic Leader”

Department of Social Relations, East West University (EWU) organized a webinar on, “Bangabandhu: Visionary and Charismatic Leader” on 10th February 2021(Wednesday) at 10.30 am on Zoom to celebrate the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The webinar was chaired by Professor Dr. Md. Mobarak Hossain Khan, Chairperson of the Department of Social Relations (DSR). Dr. Rafiqul Huda Chaudhury, Honorary Professor & Advisor, DSR; Chairperson, East West University Center for Research and Training (EWUCRT), and Member Board of Trustees, EWU graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

In the webinar the Distinguished Speaker was eminent scholar Dr. Syed Anwar Husain, Bangabandhu Chair, Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) & Former Professor, University of Dhaka. Dr. Nurul Huda Abul Monsur, Professor & Chairperson, Department of History, University of Dhaka was the Special Guest.

In his long yet thoughtful deliberation Dr. Husain said Bangabandhu was optimistic, selfless, active and a motivated leader who dreamt of an independent Bangladesh immediately after the creation of Pakistan and planted his dream in millions of Bangladeshis. His speech on 7th March was the turning point when Bangabandhu from a visionary political leader turned himself into a charismatic leader of the nation. From a so-called “bottomless basket” he started reconstruction of a war-ravaged country to an economically stable developing nation.

Education was one of the highest priorities of Bangabandhu as Dr. Chaudhury said and to make our Bangladesh ‘Bangabandhu’s Sonar Bangla’ the strengthening of education system is a must. Dr. Monsur conducted the interesting question answer session which revealed different aspects of Bangabandhu beyond the topic of the webinar.
