Female perpetrated domestic violence against men and the case for Bangladesh | A Groundbreaking Publication by DR. ANISUR RAHMAN KHAN

Our faculty member Dr. Anisur Rahman Khan, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology, East West University, has published groundbreaking research on domestic violence against men by women.

Against the backdrop of the prominence within scholarly, media, and policy discourses which predominantly portray women as the natural victims and men as perpetrators, he argued that much silence is recognizable with regard to the domestic violence against men.

Using Bangladesh as a case study, he has highlighted the key factors contributing to these silences, subjugations, and controversies associated with domestic violence against men in order to present the state of current knowledge for such violence.

It has been found that there is a paucity of scholarly information on domestic violence against men and policy, legal, and social supports available for these victims require attention. Therefore, he suggested that it is imperative to break the social prejudice associated with such violence and to adopt appropriate policy and legal intervention including gender-neutral laws to protect men at home from violence perpetrated by women.
