Anisur Rahman Khan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology, East West University. Before joining East West University, he was a faculty member at the Bangladesh Public Administration Training Centre (BPATC). Currently, he also holds the honorary position of Professor Extraordinarius at the Institute for Social & Health Sciences (ISHS) at the University of South Africa.
He is deeply committed to advancing his work on rediscovering and decolonising Bangladesh-centred sociological knowledge and realities. His current academic focus includes developing a sociology-centred knowledge base in the fields of suicide studies and violence against men. He is also engaged in exploring and addressing the ambivalences and vulnerabilities associated with men and masculinities in Bangladesh. In particular, he seeks to bring symmetry to gender-related research, scholarship, and policy advocacy. Accordingly, his work critically highlights the need to move beyond the conventional, linear women-centred focus towards a more inclusive, gender-neutral approach that explicitly incorporates men's experiences and perspectives.
He earned his higher academic degrees from the University of Dhaka, the University of York, UK, the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA) in Bangkok, Thailand, and the Institute for Social and Health Sciences (ISHS) at the University of South Africa. He has attended several professional training programmes, workshops, and academic conferences both at home and abroad.
Anisur Rahman Khan has published widely in national and international journals and contributed to several book chapters.
He has also received several internal and external research grants.
