We are delighted to share that Asraful Afrin Biswas, a proud alumna of the Department of Sociology, East West University (Batch 2018), has recently begun her two-year full-degree Master’s program in Global and Development Studies at Roskilde University, Denmark — a globally recognized institution ranked 501 in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. Afrin was also offered admission to the Master’s in Sustainable Development at Uppsala University, Sweden, a testament to her strong academic excellence and commitment to global learning.

During her master’s studies, she will engage in a diverse range of courses, including Project Management and Evaluation, Sustainability, Development and Inequality, Power, Conflict and Justice, and Current Global and Development Challenges and Solutions. Through this program, Afrin aims to explore how social innovation, geopolitics, green transitions, and international trade policies intersect to promote equitable and sustainable futures.

Her achievement highlights the department’s ongoing commitment to nurturing globally engaged scholars prepared to address pressing social and developmental challenges in an increasingly interconnected world.
