Tendency of Suicide Among Bangladeshi University Students are increasing in an Alarming Rate | Dr. Rasel Hussain

Dr. Rasel Hussain, Senior lecturer of the Department of Sociology, East West University along with his Co-author Tahmina Yesmin, Associate Professor of Philosophy, University of Dhaka explored and analyzed the trends of suicide among university-level students of Bangladesh.  They published their research findings from Asian Social Research, Chiang Mai University (CMU) Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities, Thailand. 

The title of the research paper is “Increasing Rate of Suicide among the University Students of Bangladesh: A Sociological Investigation.” The researcher investigates the nation's rising patterns in university student suicide. Several variables, including individualism, family crises, and social circumstances, are contributing to the rise in the suicide rate among students attending public, private, and medical universities. Based on the study's findings, the researcher recommended necessary policy changes, emphasizing the need to reduce family crises, invest more in moral education, take care of mental health, counsel students regularly, expand work opportunities, and develop human capital to reduce the suicide rate.
