Dr. Anisur Rahman Khan, Associate Professor of the Department of Sociology, East West University, along with his colleagues Dr. Rasel Hussain, Assistant Professor, and Mr. Helal Uddin, Senior Lecturer, conducted a research seminar at the National Institute of Local Government (NILG) under the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives (LGRD), Local Government Division, on 4 September 2025.

The title of their research seminar was “Suicide Prevention through the Intervention of Local Government: A Situational Analysis of the Union Parishads in Jhenaidah District.”

The seminar was attended by officials from NILG, representatives from local government bodies, researchers, and development practitioners, who actively participated in discussions on policy implications and future directions for community-based mental health initiatives in Bangladesh.

The session was well appreciated by the participants and highlighted the Department of Sociology’s commitment to addressing pressing social issues through research, collaboration, and policy engagement.
