Professor Dr. Fouzia Mannan was invited to deliver a plenary address at the ICSSR-sponsored International Conference titled "Gender Issues and Women's Rights: Exploring Women's Voices and Experiences in South Asia" on 6th and 7th December 2023 is being jointly organized by the Department of Economics, Women's Cell and IQAC Chanchal Colleague under Gour Banga University in collaboration with the Centre for Women's Studies, Raiganj University, West Bengal, India. In her speech on 'Changing Lives of Rural Women: Hope and Despair in South Asia.'

Prof. Mannan argued that villages have been changing dramatically over the last few decades. Rural women have been experiencing new challenges in the process of transformative economic and cultural changes due to globalization that demonstrate their hope as well as despair in Bangladesh and India.
