Medical Sociology Students Conduct Disease Awareness Campaigns | Summer 2026
During the Summer 2026 semester, eight student groups from SOC7305: Medical Sociology, Department of Sociology, conducted awareness campaigns on eight important health conditions: Heart Attack, Diabetes, HIV, PMOS, Postpartum Depression, Endometriosis, Dengue, and Thalassemia, under the guidance of Helal Uddin, Senior Lecturer, Department of Sociology.
As part of the campaign, each group prepared an epidemiological profile of its assigned health condition and conducted a Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices (KAP) survey among university students. The campaigns aimed to raise awareness about the causes, impacts, prevention, and social dimensions of these health conditions.
Through this hands-on learning activity, students strengthened their theoretical understanding while gaining practical experience in health research, data collection, analysis, and public health communication.
