Keynote Speech on Masculinity, Suicide, and Intimate Partner Violence | Dr. Anisur Rahman Khan
On May 31, 2025, Dr. Anisur Rahman Khan, Associate Professor of the Sociology Department, East West University, delivered a keynote speech titled “Masculinity, Suicide, and Intimate Partner Violence: Messages for Men’s Mental Health Interventions” at a webinar organized by the Youth Policy Forum (YPF). YPF is a prominent policy platform engaging young people in Bangladesh and beyond, fostering their involvement in nation-building and state-crafting through effective policy formulation and implementation. The forum is currently working with the Right Here Right Now (RHRN) initiative, a multi-country coalition project advocating for gender justice and the reproductive health and rights of young people.
The primary objective of the session was to raise awareness and facilitate informed dialogue grounded in research findings and global best practices concerning intimate partner violence (IPV) and men’s mental health within the Bangladeshi context. A diverse group of participants—including youth, mental health experts, and scholars—actively engaged in the webinar, contributing to an enriching and insightful discussion.
