On August 8, 2026, the Department of Sociology at East West University organized a field visit to the Bangladesh National Museum for the students of SOC 7102: Introduction to Anthropology.

The field visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure to the four major fields of anthropology: social and cultural anthropology, archaeological anthropology, biological anthropology, and linguistic anthropology. Designed to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical observation, the visit allowed students to explore these areas through the museum’s diverse collections and exhibits. In addition to learning about the rich history, culture, and heritage of Bangladesh, the visit also provided students with a broader global perspective. Students had the opportunity to observe rare historical artifacts, ancient relics, and international exhibits representing diverse civilizations and cultures, including Switzerland, China, Iran, and Korea. These exhibits helped students better understand human societies, cultural diversity, material heritage, and historical development from both local and global perspectives.

The study tour was guided by the course instructor, Mr. Helal Uddin, Senior Lecturer, Department of Sociology, East West University. To facilitate a more effective and informative exploration of the museum galleries, the Bangladesh National Museum authorities also provided a dedicated guide/instructor, who accompanied the students and provided explanations of the exhibits.
