Dr. Anisur Rahman Khan, Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at East West University, has published an article titled “Social Factors Associated with Rural Male Suicide in Bangladesh” in the journal Mortality: Promoting the Interdisciplinary Study of Death and Dying (Q1 Journal).

Based on qualitative interviews with family members and close associates of 15 male suicide cases from rural Jhenaidah district, the study identifies key social risk factors, including failed masculinity, socially unconventional relationships, extramarital affairs, and strained father–son relationships.

The findings highlight the importance of understanding social determinants and men’s lived experiences when designing effective suicide prevention strategies in Bangladesh.
