Educational Institutes Dealing with COVID-19 Pandemic: Experiences from Bangladesh | Recent Conference Presentation by Mr. Rasel Hussain

Our faculty Mr. Rasel Hussain, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Sociology, and HKPF Ph.D. fellow at Lingnan University, Hong Kong, presented his research paper on "Educational Institutes Dealing with COVID-19 Pandemic: Experiences from Bangladesh" at Hong Kong Sociological Association 22nd Annual Conference, January 8, 2022, Venue: The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Against the dearth of knowledge on how COVID-19 has influenced the educational system in Bangladesh, the paper used secondary data to understand the challenges that educational institutes are facing and to comprehend the opportunities that have arisen due to the pandemic. Furthermore, the study focused on how the pandemic-induced circumstances are causing significant changes in the education system in Bangladesh with regard to its operation and responses during the pandemic.

The findings of the study suggested that to effectively deal with a future viral epidemic and its impact, the educational system must prioritize technical literacy along with the collaborative effort of the government and non-government organizations/individuals.
