Department of Sociology at EWU conducted the 1st Batch Orientation Program for the Masters in Sociology and Social Policy (MSSP) Program

The Department of Sociology organized an orientation program for its very first batch of Masters of Sociology and Social Policy (MSSP) program for the Summer 2026 semester. The event took place at the S. M. Nousher Ali Lecturer Gallery on the EWU campus on 18th May, 2026.

The program was chaired by Dr. Fouzia Mannan, Chairperson of the Department of Sociology of EWU. In her remarks, she welcomed the newly admitted students and later highlighted the background and significance of opening the MSSP program and expressed her gratitude to all the faculty who worked tirelessly on the task of opening the program. The orientation program was hosted by Dr. Rasel Hussain, Assistant Professor of the Department of Sociology.

The session was also attended by all the faculty members of the department of Sociology, students, and the newly admitted students. All of the faculty warmly welcomed and guided the new students for a successful journey ahead with MSSP. The newly admitted students also expressed their feelings about becoming members of the MSSP program at the Department of Sociology. 

Sociology graduates, development sector professionals, researchers, and NGO professionals from home and abroad are invited to enroll as students in this program. It’s a one-year master's program (consisting of three semesters) containing 40 credits and follows the cutting-edge OBE Curriculum. Anyone with a bachelor's degree from any discipline and of any age can apply to this program. This program was designed to recommend new policies across sectors by investigating and initiating research projects. Nationally and internationally, renowned academicians, researchers, and policy specialists are serving as instructors for this program. The program also serves as a bridge between academia and industry by placing students in internship programs at various institutes.
