Mr. Helal Uddin, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Sociology at East West University, presented his research paper at the Pacific Sociological Association (PSA) Conference 2025, held from March 27 to 30 in San Francisco, United States.
On March 27, Mr. Helal shared the findings of his study titled “The Association between Cumulative Social Risk and Adolescent Obesity: Differences by Race/Ethnicity and Income” during the session on “Racial and Gendered Disparities in Health Care.” His research emphasizes that income plays a graded role in the association between psychosocial risk factors and adolescent obesity across different racial and ethnic groups. The study concluded that low-income children from racial and ethnic minority backgrounds are at a significantly higher risk of obesity.
Mr. Helal’s presentation drew significant attention, and his session saw high attendance. He was also featured by the PSA, recognizing the impact and relevance of his work.
