Manzuma Ahsan is a Faculty Member of Sociology at East West University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. She has completed her Graduation and Post-Graduation from the Department of Sociology, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh with 2 First Classes. She is a determined, detail-oriented and diligent professional who was involved in the Development Sector through research consultancies before entering into the academia. The consultancy services were provided to the major UN agencies, national NGOs, INGOs, and government autonomous agencies of Bangladesh. Her research expertise included conducting mixed-method research on various sociological and gender dimensions with extensive use of participatory approaches and analytical ability. Her area of interests covers a range of Gender-Development nexus along with Migration, Women Empowerment, Poverty, Urban issues, Indigenous peoples, Culture & Mass Communication, and Health & Environment. Special concentration includes Human rights with special focus on Gender Based Violence, Violence against Women, and sexual harassment. In her studentship, she had participated in many club activities and community development initiatives as a volunteer from school level to University. She was a player in her school and college Handball Team and won many distinctive awards. At present, alongside the role of a Senior Lecturer, she has been serving as a Moderator of the Sociology Club of East West University.
