Teaching Philosophy
Before being a teacher, I am first and foremost a sociology student. My sociological insight has profoundly shaped my approach to teaching, prioritizing critical thinking, inclusivity, and the relevance of sociology to both local and global contexts. To put these values into practice, I design my classroom as a space for active student participation, open dialogue, and the exchange of diverse perspectives. When teaching theories or concepts, I integrate real-world examples, particularly those relevant to Bangladeshi society, to help students connect sociological ideas to their daily lives and lived experiences. As a researcher experienced in working with quantitative data, I structure my courses to emphasize research and community engagement, including activities such as field visits, collaborative term papers, systematic reviews, data analysis using statistical tools, and group discussions. These methods aim to bridge academic learning with practical application and strengthen critical inquiry. As inclusiveness is a cornerstone of my teaching philosophy, I am always aware of treating every student equally, irrespective of their prior CGPA, gender, age, socio-economic status, religion, residential background, or other social identities. I also dedicate extra time and attention to students who may need additional support to understand complex concepts, ensuring no one is left behind. Above all, I am committed to nurturing students who grow into individuals with a strong sociological imagination—ethically conscious, socially responsible, and equipped to contribute to building a more just and equitable society.
