Welcome to the Department of Law at East West University - a vibrant academic community committed to excellence, integrity, and innovation in legal education. Since its establishment in September 2014, our department has been steadfast in its mission to cultivate exceptional legal professionals who are well-equipped to lead in Bangladesh and beyond.

Over the past decade, the Department of Law has established a reputation for excellence, attracting motivated students and accomplished faculty members who are united by a shared commitment to advancing legal knowledge, fostering critical thinking, and promoting ethical practice. Our LL.B. (Honors) program is a rigorous four‑year, eight‑semester degree designed to provide a solid foundation in both theoretical and practical aspects of law. The curriculum encompasses the law of Bangladesh as well as inherited principles of English law, while integrating contemporary topics to prepare students for the challenges of the 21st century legal landscape.

We take pride in our highly qualified faculty members, comprised of respected scholars and practitioners dedicated to mentoring students and advancing research across diverse legal fields. Our commitment to scholarly excellence is reflected in regular research seminars, collaborative projects, and active engagement with contemporary legal issues.

At EWU Law, we believe that excellent legal education extends beyond the classroom. Our students benefit from a rich array of experiential learning opportunities - from clinical legal education through our innovative Law Clinic to specialized workshops, seminars, and moot court training. Our moot teams have consistently excelled at national competitions, demonstrating outstanding advocacy and research skills, including championship victories and top finishes in prestigious national moot court events. In 2025, our students achieved remarkable success, with the department securing four major national titles in a single year: three National Moot Court Competition Championships and one National Law Olympiad Championship. These accomplishments reflect the exceptional advocacy, research, and analytical skills cultivated through our rigorous programs.

To support our academic mission, we continuously enrich our law library with the latest texts, online journals, and e-resources - ensuring that students and faculty members alike have access to premier research materials. Students are encouraged to engage deeply with their studies, consult with faculty members, and pursue independent research under expert guidance.

We also host distinguished legal professionals - judges, advocates, and academics - to share their insights and experiences, fostering an environment of professional engagement and inspiration. Through debates, law lectures, and discussion forums, our students sharpen their analytical, communication, and advocacy skills, preparing them for careers in legal practice, judiciary, academia, public service, and beyond.

At the Department of Law, we are committed to shaping thoughtful, ethical, and socially responsible legal minds. We invite aspiring students and future faculty members to join us on this transformative journey - where knowledge meets purpose and the law becomes a force for positive change.
