The Department of Information Studies at East West University (EWU) proudly announces a major international recognition for Professor Dr. Dilara Begum, Chairperson of the Department of Information Studies, who has been officially appointed as a Founding Member of the newly formed "South Asian Network for MIL Pedagogy, Resources and Assessment," an approved Regional Chapter of the UNESCO Media and Information Literacy (MIL) Alliance. This milestone follows the recent official approval by the UNESCO MIL Alliance Global Board, which established 16 new regional and thematic Chapters worldwide to strengthen cross-border cooperation and advance media and information literacy initiatives globally.

Uniting distinguished academics, researchers, and MIL practitioners across Bangladesh, India, and Nepal, the newly formed South Asian Regional Chapter aims to advance media and information literacy education throughout the region. The network is dedicated to developing innovative pedagogical frameworks tailored to modern educational environments, designing locally adapted resources, producing regional-language materials to overcome linguistic barriers, and establishing standardized competency assessments for learners and youth.
