Achievement Details

Dr. Dilara Begum, Associate Professor and Chairperson, Department of Information Studies, East West University was invited by the Department of Archives and Library, Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh to deliver the Keynote Speech on the occasion of National Library Day 2024. The event was held on 6 February 2024, 10:00 AM at the National Archives Building Conference Room.

Dr. Dilara Begum highlighted the role of information institutions in building smart Bangladesh. She discussed the changing paradigm of reading and learning habits.  She also explained how the information professional can help people to transform themselves into smart citizens. She highlighted the initiatives and projects of East West University and Dr. S. R. Lasker Library in this regard. She focused on the digital tools and technologies that are elementary for modern information institutions.

 Mr. Khalil Ahmed, Honorable Secretary, Ministry of Cultural affairs graced the event as the Chief Guest. The program was chaired by Dr. Salma Momtaz, Director General (Additional Secretary), Department of Archives and Library. Government officials, information professionals and other dignitaries were also present at the event.
