The Department of Law successfully organized its Orientation Program for the Fall 2026 semester on 14th May, 2026, warmly welcoming newly admitted students into the academic community. The program aimed to introduce freshers to the academic environment, institutional values, and the diverse opportunities offered by the Department.

The event was graced by the distinguished presence of Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson, Board of Trustees, East West University; Professor Dr. Mohammad Ashik Mosaddik, Pro-Vice Chancellor; and Air Cdre (Retd) Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury, Treasurer. During their addresses, the esteemed guests emphasized the importance of academic excellence, ethical integrity, leadership, and professionalism in the legal profession. They encouraged students to actively engage in research, moot court competitions, co-curricular activities, and community service alongside their academic pursuits. They further highlighted the vital role of legal education in advancing justice, critical thinking, and social responsibility, inspiring students to contribute meaningfully both within and beyond the university.

Dr. Nabaat Tasnima Mahbub, Chairperson and Associate Professor, Department of Law, delivered her welcome speech  underscoring the department’s commitment to academic excellence, practical learning, and professional development. She warmly congratulated the freshers on earning the opportunity to become a part of the Department of Law and wished them success, growth, and all the very best for their future endeavors.

Several informative sessions were conducted by respected faculty members and senior students of the department. Mr. Ali Mashraf, Senior Lecturer, and Mr. Sayeed Hossain Sarwar, Senior Lecturer, discussed academic regulations, grading policies, probation, and dismissal procedures. Guidelines on scholarships and financial assistance were presented by third-year student Kazi Ayman Awsaf, while final-year student Punom Shahriar Nirjhor introduced the East West University online portal and its key functions.

Furthermore, Ms. Nur A Ariya Alam, Lecturer, Department of Law, discussed disciplinary rules and professional conduct. Ms. Farzana Rifat Siddique, Senior Lecturer, delivered an important session on the Sexual Harassment Policy, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive academic environment. Ms. Jannatul Ferdous, Psychologist at the Department of Student Welfare and Career Counseling Centre, introduced the university’s support services. Final-year student Syeda Nabila Haque also presented on career counseling services and student club opportunities available at the university.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Mashraba Naziat, Lecturer, Department of Law, followed by a group photograph session with the faculty members of the department of law, campus tour, and lunch, marking the beginning of a promising and enriching academic journey for the freshers of the Department of Law.
